Here's a new panel from the novel. I've been testing out different kinds of paper in a search to find a cheap and thinner replacement for the illustration board I've been using. I got some Arches 88 and it ragged up as soon as the charcoal hit it. I started the novel on comic book boards, which are like thin bristol board and the surface was just too slick to really hold the deeper shades of charcoal. So after a few other attempts with other crummy paper, I was turned on to some ill shit: Magnani "Portofino" 275# hot press watercolor paper. Nice texture, great sizing (thanks for the tip Josh), and it's only going to cost me $7.50 a sheet, which splits up to around $2.50 a novel page. Not bad. Not bad at all. This image is the first panel I've done on the paper. Trivia: The flyers on the wall of the building are reward posters for the capture of saboteurs. A million francs! That's a shitload of quiche.
On another note, I finally bought the domain name for amoryabbott.com, so if you type it in your browser, it should send you here, although I've been having some forwarding issues today. Hopefully it does. Enjoy!
