Paper Crane Pond

Here we see the rare and beautiful Paper Crane in it's natural habitat. This endangered specimen of the genus grus origamis is said to thrive deep in the heart of the densely wooded Forest Islands off the eastern coast of our imagination. Not much information is known about the rare bird, only that it can be found in most any color, and constructed quite easily. Famous for it's distinct style of flying: it's head and tail rising and falling in sync with the flapping of the wings. A magnificent creature such as this is one of few mythical beings that exist not only in legend, but also in small square-shaped pieces of notebook paper.

Charcoal on BFK Paper, about 14" x 22" This is from a digital photo that I've color corrected as best as I can. I'll update with a scanned version later. Inspired by a gift my friend Delpha gave me for my birthday- a small 2-inch tall jar with a super-tiny paper crane in it.
